Definitions

Network Marketing - A process by which a distributor creates a network of distributors. This also creates the kind of leverage you cannot achieve in the traditional work place. Meaning, one person has many people duplicating his/her efforts at the same time. True wealth can only be achieved through leverage. Network Marketing happens to be the affordable business of choice which allows the ordinary person a way to achieve extraordinary income. It is also an ethical business because the people at the top do not gain anything unless the people at the bottom profit.

MLM - Multi Level Marketing is a process by which you get paid on a defined number of levels deep in your Network Marketing organization. It is mainly customer based because after goods and services are rendered for each sale, they are consumable products or services that create repeat sales. This means, people are ordering product underneath you month after month and year after year. A certain amount of levels deep with people ordering product can add up to create volume. This volume is what you get paid on within a certain amount of levels deep.

Pyramid Scheme - It is illegal. They use Multi Level Marketing without any goods or services rendered, because Multi Level Marketing is a word of mouth method that has been proven to be the fastest form of distribution. The money is gained through the recruitment of people in the hope of "getting rich quick". People at the top make all the money and people at the bottom lose out. All people at the bottom lose their money they have gambled. They usually disband before the law can catch up with them as an uninformed participant can end up in jail.

Legal Pyramids are Major corporations including Network Marketing corporations and Fortune 500 companies etc. Major corporations use Network Marketing in order to sell their products through an MLM because they are able to rely on a network of distributors to educate the consumer without spending money on any advertising costs. In the familiar open market a corporation will spend millions on advertising costs before a single phone, service, supplement or tube of toothpaste is sold. Network marketing is the distribution of choice for well known corporations such as Microsoft, Sprint, AT&T, Gillette, Texas Instraments, General Motors, just to name a few.

Even though Network Marketing is mainly customer based, all associates have the same amount to gain because a companies compensation plan is designed to reward any associate who wants to duplicate (train others) so that they can get more done. The more customers in your organization, the larger the volume (money going up on the graph), which creates residual income for the associate.
